FWIW, I use a slip-on recoil pad (Beartooth Mercantile) on both of my guide guns (Marlins) to keep the eye-relief the same when wearing lighter clothes. One day I looked through the scope while wearing my cold weather hunting jacket and thought, hey my cheek weld is better than usual. Who knew. Maybe a little length would help and the pads I use allow you to adjust from nothing to about 3/4 inch, IIRC.
