I see 28 gauge shot shells for sale all over the place, I’ve never known of anyone personally that owns a 28, must not be many around since I keep seeing ammo on shelves in different places.

I saw a few boxes of 28 at a Walmart yesterday. It was all they had. Nobody I know owns anything in that caliber, either. Might be worth looking into custom machining a single shot chamber adapter for the 28

I have been looking at the 28 for some time now. It is a "happy medium" between the 410 and the 20 but closer to the 20ga.
Shotguns are pretty much the same as far as vels. However what sets them apart is the weight of shot, the load. IOW,the vel of a 410 is very similar to a 12,with the shot load and pattern density being different.
To me the 28 is great for the lower flying doves, pointed quail, squirrel, even in the tallest trees, and with the right shooter, loads, and choke, even decoyed crows and pointed pheasent.
The recoil of these guns are less than a 20 and more than a 410. I feel that they are about midway in between.
I recently shot a round of sporting clays with a borrowed 28 and my buddy was shooting a 20. I got to try them both side by side. I was told of a buddies buddy that had an inertia Benelli 28 that shot like a 410.
28ga ammo is not that expensive. After the last storm Styx had tons of it on sale. I saw some at Mike's last week. It is all over (in stock) the interweb.
28ga guns are everywhere. Academy,Mike's,Styx has about 5 of them on the rack,KY Guns, and others. Both O/U and SXS's. I have yet to see a single but they gotta be out there. A O/U with tubes would be for me. Modified would be my "go to".And a shot stock (13" LOP) would be great.
    Need a 20ga ?? Check out the 28's first. --- SAWMAN

I own a 28 ga topper H&R shotgun. That is a break action single shot. Probably need to sell it some some day. I believe I do have Some brass hulls for it.

My wife trying to help out with the ammo brought home two boxes of 28 gauge shells not long ago thinking they were 20 gauge. Now I think I will just try and find a 28 gauge shotgun to use them. It would probably be easier than finding someone that would trade me some 20 gauge for them. I have always been intrigued by the 28 gauge anyway.

In the USA it has has always been associated with the connoisseur that wants a gun with about the same shot charge of a fully loaded .410, but a superior pattern. Over seas there is also a 24 and 32 gauge shotguns.

I’m looking for a good used single shot 28 gauge, was in a Walmart yesterday and saw plenty of 28 gauge ammo on the shelf, no other ammo available but the 28. Guess I should buy several boxes now in case I run up on a gun for it.

I own a full choke H&R breakopen. Someday I may sell it. I purchased some brass hulls for reloading for it.

28 shoots real nice. We shot them quite a bit as kids. There are still a couple in the family, I'm sure, but none in my collection.

There are a few sets on Gun Broker..
    And a few Model 1100 .410 guns
Finding the .410 that is the matching number to your 28ga is highly unlikely..
I sure hope you find it some day..The pair is obviously worth much more than the individual guns..
Love me some small gauge shotguns.

There is a 410 & 28 gauge matched set of Remington 1100s on gunbroker - starting bid is $3,500 and no bids.

I like my 28 O/U. I shoot quail and skeet with it mostly. I bought a flat of Winchester AA Target loads for $98.99 a couple of weeks ago at my LGS. Last time I bought a flat at Wally World they were $79.90 a flat.

Doesn't all of the Winchester AA series move at the same speed across the board whether it is 410 or 12 ga...either 1200, 1250, 1300 or 1350?
