    I’m a fan of the big scoop/thumb tunnel/scallop/relief whatever.

You could try the Magpul grips. Good traction, big scoop, cheap and probably one of the lightest grip options for the 1911. They’re kinda neat, instead of being an oval shape their angled to the widest point. Decent job of filling the palm but feels much slimmer than stock wood grips.

This is a set of Guuun slim grips on my Para GI Expert. I absolutely love the feel of them. I ordered them from eBay and ordered a set of bushings and screws at the same time.

Just wondering how the polymer holds up? Wonder if it's going to get flimsy and soft like rubber does here in the Florida heat? Since you have the big scoop I have a question. Do you find that your thumb ends up in the big scoop when you're shooting, or can you still hold above it with a higher grip? Last thing I want is to inadvertently drop my magazine out thanks to recoil. I've seen this happen on my 9 mm Taurus with people that have bigger hands but it's never happened to me.

Idk about long term, I’ve got a pile of Magpul mags that haven’t cared about the florida wether for years though.

Haven’t accidentally dropped the mag or anything yet, but I shoot high thumbs. With a 1911 I actually have been trying to break riding the safety due to the grip safety.

The magpuls are somewhere between lok and checkered wood in aggressiveness, between it and the skateboard tape across the frontstrap it’s imo a good fit. Actually just shot this pos this morning, in the rain, and it didn’t squirm around in my hands.

Let's get a picture of those slim grips... looking at them with the pistol flat on a table, at eye level with the mag well, looking over the grips and towards the safety. See how slim they really are

Here's a family photo. I don't recall the manufacturer of the ones on the (Wife's) RIA Compact, but they were an ebay purchase as well. The Guuun grips on my Para Expert are the only "slim" ones in the group. The grips on the RIA Tac-II 10mm are factory and I think they use VZ for their OEM G-10 grips. Overall I prefer the feel of the slim grips.

I'm hoping POS stands for police officer special, cuz in the military POS is piece of....! I looked long and hard at the Magpul because of magpul's reputation, but there's something about a double diamond pattern that's just classic in my opinion and after all it's got to have some eye appeal. Gun porn is still eye candy JMHO.

everything is, to me, a pos until it proves itself.
450 flawless rounds in my hands, and today 150 of them in the rain with mags full of red clay. She’s about out of her probationary status and in the rotation, if I can find a belt that’ll support her

You are quite welcome. I'm always happy to contribute a little gun porn!

The Guuun grips came in. Installed the Standard, since it only required four screws. Real nice support for the safety tube. Thumb doesn't ride in the big scoop channel yet has enough room for high hold without riding the safety. YMMV based on hand/finger size. Double Diamonds are equal to the Original E-Series grip in texture. Thumb now completely covers mag release button, yet I still need to drop thumb down to slip into big scoop channel. Need Gun porn?

Grippy texture at all? I prefer a rubbery type grip

Between the front strap and the back strap checkering it's really hard to tell the difference between the original grip. It's not rubbery it feels more like the original wood texture. Didn't get a chance to take it out today, but it doesn't seem like it's going to slip or go anywhere.

So perhaps it's time for a side by side?
