So anyone can get a drivers license in CA these days. I’m under the impression that you could take that ID to our local Walmart and make a gun purchase legally. Is this correct? Or do they not allow CA id cards for gun purchases?

You still have time for winter rye. 90 degree temps will kill it but not until mid May. A perennial rye like Lesco All Sport. It’s some what dwarf in size, maxes out around 4”. You won’t have to mow it. I wouldn’t use the annual rye around a residence.
