Specifically I left a message via the website after hours. Got an automated reply they’d contact me within 24 hours. I waited 5 days and called. Guy answered. When asked why no call back, he said we don’t reply to web site contacts. I said why do you have that means on your web site? He said...
I recenty bought the TC Contender .22 that was offered here. Today was testing to see what ammo it liked. I was pleased with the results. Target distance was 25 yd. 1” squares. Best was Wolf Match Target.
Nothing shot “bad” out of the 11 varieties tried. I then fired some more of the best 4...
Generally rat snakes are rather laid back. I’ve been coming across them since I moved here in 2008. In all those years I’ve only come across two that were pissed off. One, a young one, bit me right in front of grandkids as I held it. Well, that went over well as I was teaching. The other was an...
I may have missed an opportunity. I was bullet casting when a rather large rat snake showed up. I gently shooed it away from entering my garage. It wasn’t pissed off, so I could have picked it up. What I should have done is pick it up, put it in a bucket, and ask my neighbor if I could let it...
Went out last night. Six times I saw a rat + two heat signatures showing through the roof (possibly two nests as the heat signature would only move an inch or two). Probably not six separate rats, as after I killed two I waited another hour and no more sightings inside the coop.
Two killed...
Quick testing at the neighbor’s before the storm came. Tested 44 cast bullets with aluminum gas checks vs copper gas checks. Same accuracy and point of impact…success! I have zillions of the aluminum ones.
Next was my BRN180 pistol in 300 Blackout. I had tested and sighted it in with CCI 400...
Lubed and sized some of the 44cal bullets so I could test the aluminum gas checks. Loaded up 50 44special test loads. In between sizing and loading, I made up 50 more pounds of 20/1 lead/tin alloy I use for the 44 and 45/70 bullets.
Neighbor put out his camera in the coop last night. 3 rats on camera, so more to be done. At least it wasn’t a myriad of rats like when I began. Once the coop is cleaned out, it’s on to the barn. I know of at least three living in the barn. I’ve got permission to bring another neighbor with his...
Finished casting a 30 cal ammo can of 44 cal bullets. Started a couple of days ago. Then started on 45/70 type hollow base bullets today. I use them in a M1888 Trapdoor and a Danish M1867 rolling block.
The hollow base mold being a single cavity is slow and picky, but once it and the lead are...
Much better night. Killed one in the chicken yard. Put a bullet in one in the coop. Could hear it flopping and then silence…couldn’t find it.
Saw one coming out from under a coop corner and killed it. Later another came out from same place and smelled the dead one…killed it. Repeat. Repeat...
Well, the other night I missed 7, should have been easy, shots, so I stopped and left. Rats would jump up and run off. One did leave a trail of poop dropping's about 2’ long (through thermal I thought it was blood, but flashlight showed otherwise). The next day I found the sights were to the...
There was an optional cord to rca jack video output connector that could be purchased. It was never bought. No built in recorder on this older model.
ATN thermal mounted and sighted on at 30’. At 20’ it hits 1” low. At 40’ it hits 1” high.
Looking at what I have, I noticed my Ruger Precision Rimfire. It has a pic rail. Will remove its scope and mount thermal and see if it will allow a 30’ zero. I have Sawman’s ATN thermal. It will focus down to about 6‘, so the focusing aspect is taken care of.
A friend has a rat problem, so I went over this evening to see what I could do. My plan was to spot with thermal, have a green light on my 22 rifle and kill with 22 CB caps. Easy to spot with thermal, but rats would run when hit with green light. 22 rifle has no provision to mount thermal on it...
