If everyone didn’t bump their post daily it would stay in the same spot and just as easily seen.

80% of the “new posts” are just bumps.

Can we atleast wait an entire week before reposting ; not daily

Gun boards tend to attract tards... guys who simply regurgitate what their friend's dad's brother from Viet Nam told them or what they read somewhere on the internet.

Some old timers simply have been left behind by technology and they too post stupid stuff.

Lots of people simply lack extensive training, education, experience, and knowledge to personally back up their opinions which should be based solidly on first-hand observations and actual experience, not just rumor or speculation.

As a result, folks with legitimate credentials and experience tend to get tired of the back and forth and just move on.

With that said, this place isn't that bad really... some good hearted folks on here that are eager to share info and remain open minded. In the end, it really is just a local gun board no different than a collection of guys you would run into at the range for the most part. Not a wealth of real-world in-depth experience since we lost M118LR.

the mods literally pull down dozens of "bumps" and comments in adds for sale every day. the for sale section is NOT a discussion thread but to many treat it as such. we always advise rules violators and bumps as to the rules sections and the need to refer to them... not a lot of rules to follow and we try to keep posts on target. i completely agree we need more discussion threads and also admit that i have a bunch of stuff for sale. everybody SHOULD contribute insightful and conversation starting stuff and i would encourage newer members to jump in. i would also like to see more green banners for contributing members that invest only $10 dollars a year to the site to keep it running. i get zero compensation as far as dollars or benefits and all the mods volunteer time. we try hard and would love to see more members get involved in the other sections besides the classifieds.

Most of us want to learn things from the more experienced. Like everything nowdays, think for yourself and be skeptical of that 1800 yard shot.

Id say we still have more real world experience than most places I have seen. Plenty of folks have the information if legitimate questions are asked. I was just reviewing a thread a few nights ago about a 6.5CM upper that had some great info on it.
Met a member for a trade on Wednesday and the guy has probably forgotten more about 1911s than I know. Not everyone wants to flaunt what they know but if you look and ask, you can usually find some good stuff. :)

I think the reason for so many of the bumps is that most people are discovering that with the worsening economy, they don't have the discretionary funds they used to have.

Only $10! I got ya. I don’t think many people even know this is a thing.

Or…maybe the bumps because their prices are out of whack with real market prices?

I’ve seen posts here for used guns that were more than what they run new. SMH.

Oh that's always a problem. Most people think the stuff they own is gold and everyone else's is trash.

But its still a pretty free country and people can ask for as much as they like.

To be fair, this is a very limited audience.
I’ve listed stuff on here that didn’t sell in 3 weeks.
I put it on the Smith & Wesson forum for the same price and it sold in 10 minutes.
This has happened three times in the last couple of weeks.
I did hafta hassle with shipping but not that big of a deal.

But apparently not totally free country, as we are not allowed to tell them that.
Members can't talk crap on the post and discourage sale. I usually put that people can PM me whatever info they want. Often I dont realize that pricing is off. :) (See my chicken posting - I guess I have them listed too high for most of them)

Man, my friends dads brother who was a ‘Nam vet told me he was the first guy on his block to get a confirmed kill at 1,000 yard with a frozen hypersonic ice round of .50 bmg, at a bad guy….you mean maybe he was really pulling my leg…?

I'm one of those "old guys" that has probably has posted "stupid stuff". One thing for sure though, I can shoot this older technology stuff better that most can their brand new GEN5000 stuff and don't spend a fortune doing so. I will try to refrain from doing a lot of posting so I won't upset the new generation !

There's a big difference in my opinion when older folks, hell I'm one of them, post about something new... for example... "well that's interesting, not that I'd buy it, but it is interesting" vs. "I don't know why that exists, XXX has been getting the job done for 100 years no one needs that".

Like when Jim Dumbo bad mouthed the AR15 as a modern day sporting rifle a few years ago.
