      It's a nice idea, but I have only had to mortar my AR twice in my life and that was because I was dumb and didn't clean it after a few range trips running a few hundred rounds each trip (ahhhhh.... remember those good ole days when a box of 20 would be $7 or $8, starting to cry a little now)...

      I don't want to clutter up this thread, but I gotta ask. How is the feel of the gun with the aluminum frame? Did you notice a difference in muzzle rise \ handling between polymer vs aluminum frame because of the weight difference?

      So, my AR exploded today…

      wow...glad everyone is ok. I shoot Freedom Munition myself, I had an order come short once and I called their Service Number and they were quick to resolve and give me an extra box for my troubles. They were pretty quick to resolve my issues. Also, that does look like a serious casing failure...

      anyone ever transport a firearm on the airlines?

      Flew about 4-5 years ago out of Pensacola into Texas...pretty much what others have described. Only thing I remember is that ammo and guns could not fly in the same luggage, don't know if that changed. If you do have a TSA approved lock, they zip tie the gun case and put Red tape around it so...
