Some of you guys are acting like someone here suggested cashing all of their life savings into metals or something. It doesnt seem like a bad idea to keep 10% or so of your home stash in metals, at least they are pretty to look at.

There would not be a market for precious metals and stones but there will be a market for booze, food, guns, and ammo.

Those with enough booze, food, guns, and ammo will own everything else.
What are we talking about? The walking dead still? LOL

A SHTF scenario - say a massive loss of power, emp, some national emergency.

Let’s just assume no utilities for a month. Half the population would be about dead. Cities would be in complete disaster.

It would be nice to know what's being sold / traded in the Ukraine. And what items they wished they would have bought more of prior to the " the money laundering supply chain interruption"
Not necessary, just look at the things that were most valuable during the collapse of the soviet union, or the starving times in the 50s, or in the Balkans during the dissolution of Yugoslavia.

    A fictional comic book

I don’t know about the comic book but I think the TV show is pretty close to how things could be if things really go downhill - people banding together for protection and scrounging the necessities.

I sold gold to a shop this past week and got almost $300 for it. As long as somebody's buying I don't care what anybody else has to say about it

I strongly suggest reading “One Second After” by William R. Forstschen if one has not already done so. Although it is fiction, it addresses many of the issues raised in this thread.
Yep I got that one. It's a good read. The second book in the series, not so much. Haven't found the third one yet. I heard he's coming out with a fourth now too

Can't forget how during the Yugoslav conflict it was a can of corned beef hash would buy you an all nighter with a hot young thing. Oh and more recently a few years ago when the Greek currency collapsed plenty of Greek college girls would do anything you asked for a cheeseburger. On record. Historical fact. Food as currency because of real tangible value
