Got to admit, I'm feeling a bit guilty sipping a Gin & Diet Tonic while monitoring the weather channel. The Big Orange Box put me on hold from an 8 O clock arrival, pending further notification. Having experienced the pleading stares of folks looking up at me from atop their roofs, can't say that I'm comfortable sitting on the pine without a pair of Voit Duck Feet while others are biting their nails waiting to get into the fray. Seconds seem like lifetimes while your attempting to save your family members atop your roof. Never thought distressed children would make me grow soft once I Surrendered to Gravity & Good Times. Don't like the feeling I get knowing that folks need help and I'm no longer called upon to assist. Well, things may change in the neighborhood over the next couple of days. Yet I'd rather that any service I render would be unnecessary. CONFLICTED!

Those down there are in trouble. God help them.
God's help is the ultimate last resort, She's a bit busy. But if US mere mortals expend a little more energy helping others without questioning if it's deserved, perhaps we could take a tiny nibble of God's workload? Actions taken shall always Trump Humanitarian Thoughts. Things that can be done on after action reports shall never outweigh things that have been done during a time of crisis. JMHO.

Hell No! What I need is a Mission! Bet you get bit when mollycoddling a Dog of War. Purpose driven folks need to be proactive in solving problems. If there is no other purpose that can be fulfilled except a financial donation, 10 Percent is God's share. 1/2 of a percent should appease Caesar and let you sleep well knowing you have helped your fellow man. YMMV.

Guess Thing 1 picked the wrong two weeks to Honeymoon at the theme parks. Sea World just shut down so they will be spending Wednesday slowly packing, and They aren't scheduled to move to the Disney Grand Floridian until Thursday. But Disney & Universal have closed both Wednesday & Thursday so we shall see how that works out. I supposed to take Thing 2's crew (the Redheaded Grandson included) to LEGOLAND Sat, Sun, & Mon with hotel check in on Friday but that may need a little shuffling dependent on post IAN power restoration. Looks like US Folks here in Clay county are going to get IAN coming and going, but Hopefully it won't be near as BAD as those under landfall right on the Gulf Coast. Glad to hear the panhandle seems to have dodged a major bullet, and I hope ALL the Folks in central Florida fair well. It's going to be strange to not suit up for a Hurricane, but it's time to let the Young Bucks ride the cable to rescue folks up on the roof. Stay safe Y'all.

    You were down there too?
My girls cousin proposed at magic Kingdom. I just was happy the weather held out for that.

I made my daughter come home from school in Daytona Beach. All classes got cancelled for the remainder of the week. Glad she obliged and didn't put up a fight. Students living on campus were allowed to shelter in place, but that may change. Last report I saw was that Daytona was expected to get 15 or more inches of rain from this as the storm exits the state into the Atlantic there. Here, it's clear skies and cool temperatures. There is just ugly right now according to a friend of hers that stayed

Thing 1 & her new hubby had to shelter in place at the Sea World accomodations. The Grand Floridian at Disney put them on hold until Friday at present. Not sure about the Legoland trip with the red-headed Grandson, but all the reservations are still good to go according to the internet. All the Big Orange Box stores are closed in this area for today. I guess Thing 1's Honeymoon will be memorable, if the wife and I got locked down in a hotel room for two days my odds of survival would be low. But since they are on their Honeymoon, well I guess they can figure out something to do? Still awaiting contact with them today, but I don't expect to hear anything until closer to noon. Lots of mandatory evacuations here in Clay County, so far it's shelter in place for the Grandmother of all Things and I. Stay safe Y'all.

At the angle that storm is going in Punta Gorda at the end of that bay might be in for a huge storm surge. That whole area is gong to be devastated!
(well, I made this comment before noon on the 28th, but apparently forgot to click the "Post reply" button : )

May be worse at Fort Myers, but yep... right up the tailpipe.

I remember his elevated speech during Katrina...when the 20' storm surge covered his mini van and he moved to the second floor of the Naval Retirement Home on the beach in GPT.
