Picked up a synthetic v3 at a decent deal, only because I found a wood stock set for pennies.
Now I find out that the gas ports on the factory synthetic model are specific and a wood forend will not fit. I don't mind modifying. I'd rather have a cut or chopped wood piece anyday over plastic. Stock bolts right up from what I see. Not much info out there on these other than they are soft shooters. Any info is appreciated. I'm pretty handy and my father in law is a woodworker. Just hate to dive into it and make a mistake.

The more i dig the less I like. Looks like it will fit on the synthetic model but could crack the forend over time the way the gas is vented. Factory walnut models come with a non vented gas block and extended gas tubes to vent it all the way forward.
Synthetic models have vented blocks and plugs. I'm also starting to see synthetic models blow gas in your face. It's all over the forums, but Remington replies this is very rare. Hope I didn't buy a dud.

Shot it today and no gas in the face with the factory synthetic forend. It has 3 holes on the top side of the forend where it exits. Receiver end. The wood will fit, you just have to carve it out pretty good to clear the tubes. This is probably why they were cracking and Remington redesigned it.

I'll report back once I get it all jiving together how it fits and where the gas will vent.

Can't tell me no. Had to cut a good bit of wood out of the inside of the forend on each side but it now fits like factory and locks up tight.

Looks way better than the plastic it came with.

    Blast shield?
I didn't put anything in it but I did drill some holes on the top of the forend because the factory synthetic had some triangles in it for venting. I may need to enlarge them just a hair as I smelled gas pretty strong a few times today.

We had talked about that and I didn't address it. I'll pull the forend off and see what it looks like. I may do something now just because lol
