I might be wrong but I think Daezee (Bruce) has a SAM5 as well... thought I saw him talking about having a milled 5.56 AK at one point. It's a weird little round that's expensive to get into now, but I've always loved 5.45 AKs. The SLR104FR is probably my favorite AK in general.

I had only one and ended up making the call to let it go and focus on 5.56 and 7.62. I also dropped .45 then too... I always really enjoyed 5.45 but I started feeling like it was too niche. Only Russia manufacturers the round and it is just one import ban away. I don't think I'd have let it go though if it was an Arsenal 104fr. Those are going for 2200+ these days. Surprises the hell out of me considering arsenal couldn't sell them for shit for 1000 area when they were making them.

I bought that rifle from him shortly after I moved to Pensacola. He even had the original box for it. The quality is unreal and by far the smoothest AK I've ever felt. It puts the SAM7SF, SA93 and a milled MAK to shame. Sadly I only have the SAM5 and SA93 left due to making room for different AK variants. The SAM7SF was traded for a NIB Archer/Beryl. That's another AK that most aren't aware of unless you're an AK nut like some of us on here. Only about 900 of them were imported. I should probably drag some of AK's out for another photo shoot. I looked at the last one I posted and saw several that now have new homes while others haven't been photographed.

Not an AK. But goes with one.
This is a late 50s Russian Experimental Aluminum 36 round magazine. A few hundred made, but were canned as they were not strong enough for the battlefield. They came in a 30, 36 and 40 round capacities. The only one that made it into production was the 30 round waffle style magazine. All others were destroyed.

I've got a buddy of mine with a Russian surplus spam can of 5.45, and no rifle for it. He might sell it for the right price.

Cool pic Red....I'm looking for a copy of a Kurdish girl holding an AK at sling arms while I was on a emergency reclamation of a crashed Navy CH-53E in northern Iraq during Operation Provide Comfort (1991) ...we were with the 24th Marine Expiditionary Unit pushing back 3 Divisions of Iraqi regular army post Desert Storm....we had air power galore to make this happen. We were in Turkey operating all over norther Iraq...

Were you operating out of Incirlik or Batman? We (39th SOW, comprised of the 7th SOS, 21st SOS, and 67th SOS) were operating out of Incirlik for Operation Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Provide Comfort. The 21st SOS which had MH-53Js had forward deployed choppers at Batman for faster CSAR response. I was with the 7th SOS at the time.

My unit, the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit was part of the 6th Fleet, we basically worked for the JCS and President as “LF6F”, or Landing Force 6th Fleet. Our ship was the USS Guadalcanal which was anchored in Iskanderon Bay, Turkey. The Marines were detached from the ship and forward deployed 600 miles due east in Silopi, Turkey; in the field type deployment. We were there to provide support for all the Kurds who were being slaughtered by the Iraqi forces not destroyed during the war. We were on the Iraq/Syria/Turkey border We had one battalion of Marines, one squadron of helos reinforced (HMM-264) and supporting units to include Redhorse det from the USAF facing a few divisions of Iraqis but we had every aircraft from every base nearby and there was a ‘no fly’ zone which grounded the Iraqi AF. I’ll have to find some pics...

Where do y’all get your AKs?

I’ve looked at some but heard Riley Defense suck.

I’d love to get my hands on a MAADI

Mine were purchased some years ago. What do you like about the MAADI. It was my understanding that the MAADI being made on were russian equipment were very close to the Russiam AKM. Take a look at the the AK operators union on youtube. For what is what in AKs https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ak+operators+union+local+47-74
