This may have been covered and if so I apologize. Has anyone had experience with the online solvent trap rig that was built specifically for a suppressor then did the NFA thing before completion? Seems to cut down on wait time but not sure about results.

I have done a 30 cal suppressor this way and am very happy with the results. I did the NFA paperwork before I even got the parts to make sure there would never be any questions. Works great on my 308 and 300 blk out
I wondered if they actually worked. Apparently the oil filter/solvent trap becomes NFA if you have an adapter that will allow it to attach to a gun muzzle is what I understand.

Form 1s are processing way faster than anything else. If you want to build your own, I suggest looking up the titanium kits though if you're gonna spend the dough and register it.

Thanks for the feedback. What brand did you go with? There are several out there with various materials and prices. Some with drill jigs.

The oil can ones - some of the nicer solvent traps would kaboom your gun if you fired before finishing them

Hell even some of the crappier ones would.
Think of pressure and what happens generally with too much.
Interesting observations. Obviously these solvent traps are more than a stamped sheet metal oil filter.

The cheap ones are the basically repurposed wix oil filters
There are even cheap steel and aluminum body with spacers etc.

Would only be of interest if we ever reach a state of world without rule of law and we make what ever we can at home. If I am paying the fee, I would want a decent piece of work.

Fram oil filters work pretty well. Measured DB on a .300blkout and it reduced sound by 37db.

I think we measured 163db first, then 136db after. This was indoors as well, so the sound may have been a bit louder than normal.

I saw a guy on YouTube use oil filters. Bought an adapter off ebay and just screwed it on and shot a hole in it. He paid the tax for the video ofc. he got about 200 rounds through before it started to lose durability. Said it was 13 bucks for adapter off ebay and filter was 11 bucks. Might be a practical SHTF scenario

The problem is sounds about 100 db are still quite audible. I have quiet ammo in .22 rifles that is much quieter.
CCI's Quiet .22 load is designed to deliver about 68 decibels (Db) at the shooter's ear. https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2012/6/14/hush-it-s-cci-s-quiet-22/
I have a bit of this on hand in solid format and even some in segment hp. Good for hunting and it has enough power to penetrate a human skull it if hits at a direct angle. Makes a good round for quiet hunting so people will not know that you are around and requires no paper work. Does not work in a semiauto rifle and must be used in long barreled weapons to be quiet.
