    Hi, All:

Have been wanting to load up some sabot rounds in the '06 but can't seem to find in load data for the proper powder. If anyone has some experience with this, I'd appreciate the information...Thanks!

I will dig thru some of my older stuff and try to locate some info.

I tried this with a single shot 308Win some years ago and while I achieved some blistering speeds my accuracy was 6 inches + at 50yds. I even used a special block that I made to seat the bullet/sabot combo.

You can surely give this a try but I have never talked to anyone that could get the sabot's to shoot worth a crap in any chambering. I still have some factory stuff laying around and it will outshoot any load that I could come up with ....... and that was not too awful accurate.

I used several different .224" bullets including a 52gr SMK and NosBalTip's in the 50 and 55gr weights. I could very easily achieve 4000fps. --- SAWMAN
EDIT To Include --> They make 30cal sabots for use in a 50BMG also. NOW...that would be fun !!

ALSO....remember that although you will be getting a faster velocity than the "normal" '06..the twist rate of your bbl is still 1:10 or 1:12 most likely. That could effect accuracy. Would say to stick with <55gr bullets. --- SAWMAN

I remember shooting some through a woodsmaster back in the early 80s. Recoil was tame compared to a full 150 grain or 180 grain 06 load.
we were shooting iron sights and hitting beer cans at 50 yards.
