I just picked up a 917v also. I have the savage at home ( pa) real disapointed in the marlin trigger, as compared to the savage. I did find a trigger that had good reviews attached to it, just under $100 with shipping. should be here his week. Standard "BSA sweet 17 scope" on top. I will let you know how it comes out.

The factory trigger wasn't the best in the world. I changed out the spring with a spring from a papermate ink pen, about $1.00 at the local Office Max. It made all the difference in the world. This works on all of the Marlin bolt guns.

Take the lower screw out of the trigger, slip the trigger out, and the spring on the back side of the trigger is the one that you change out. Takes it from 6+ pounds to a nice ~3 to 3.5 lb trigger.

After you do this, be sure to check it over and over to make sure it is safe. Bump it with your hand, bump it on the floor, and check it over and over again.

This is from RimfireCentral.com been on that site for years. Very helpful with anything rimfire. I did the pen spring and heavier sear spring on mine, made a huge difference. And a damn site cheaper than 100$ it did cost me a working pen...:)

The one on my 917V was already metal, if it had been plastic I would have replaced it with something metal anyway. Marlin part number for my black 917V aluminum trigger guard is 320758. I think the silver trigger guard is 305058.

Again copied from RimFireCentral.com in regards to the Boyds stocks.

This should work its from Numrich

my take down screws are one right infront of the trigger guard and one about 1-1 1/2inchs infront the mag.

i just looked at my gun better and it has a mag plate and 2 screws holding that plate there.

im guessing one of the take down screws will be used to hold the front of the trigger guard. i need a screw of the rear of the trigger guard tho. does anyone know what screw that might be? a part number or link?

wow never thought it would be this PITA to swap stocks lol

What town are you in? I'll bring mine by one afternoon and we can see exactly what ya need :thumb: If you have the mag plate already, then all you would need is a T G and one screw for it. And for the scope, I would look very hard at the Mueller scopes. Like said before if you want to see the holes at 100 you would need 20+ mag. Those .17 holes are VERY small out there.

Not a problem man, hope ya get that thing looking good. I would highly recommend using one RFC's bedding techniques once you get the new stock.
