    Tubular magazine capacity is either 17 rounds (before the late 1980s) or 14 rounds (since the late 1980s).

    The redesigned magazine tube was visibly shorter than the barrel, which is how rifles from this period can be easily identified.

    The rifle shown in the OP definitely seems to have the longer magazine tube.

    Those Glenfields with the squirrel in the stock were sold at Otasco and K-Mart as well as others in the 70's. Look at the serial number and subtract the first two digits from 2000 and that should be the year of manufacture.

    Ok makes it a 1978, 40 years old!

    Great little rifle. Not to high jack, but I have the exact same model made in 1978 still brand new in the factory box and wax paper. Never even had a round in the tube. Good luck with the sale!

    If I didn't already have two of them.... This is a great price, especially if that scope that is shown is included.
