It is beyond me how the Democrats (this time) are always threatening to allow the Govt. to shutdown to get their way, and they are still in office? It's like blackmail. I think a bit of history is important to give this discussion some perspective.

Before 1882 anyone who set foot in this country was a legal immigrant. In 1882 congress passed a law banning or limiting Chinese from entering this country. Everyone else could enter without limitations. In 1925 another immigration law was passed to keep out people from the "undesirable" portions of southern Europe - i.e Italian and Jews. Everyone else could enter this country legally just by setting foot on our shores. It was not until 1952 that we start to see a real cohesive immigration policy that gave rise to the what we have today. The policy was refined a bit more in 1965 and then again in 1986.

So why the history lesson? The only difference between these DACA children's parents and our own is that they arrive here about 30 years or so too late. If they had gotten here before 1952 then they would have been here legally. For the majority of this Country's existence, getting here legally just meant setting foot on our shores. Later we added a requirement that you learn basic English and be able to pass a civics test and you are an American. Even later still we created visas and green cards and other such controls. But all of this stuff is relatively new to us, and certainly did not apply to our ancestors when they came over here from where ever they came from.

Too often immigration policies were used to discriminate against folks like the Chinese, Italian, and Jews. Then later it was folks from Spanish speaking countries and of course now we want to ban folks from Muslim countries.

These DACA folks have lived here since they are children. The have committed no crime, other than to exist. In fact if they had committed any crime, they would not qualify for DACA

it is beyond me how any American can hate these folks. It is beyond me how any American can suggest that they should be deported from here. All the listed DACA aliens accomplishments carry no weight. Americans have been doing the same things: it does not make them "special" nor does it represent the entire category of aliens. The "children" can't do for themselves but these "anchor children" have a chain connected to parent(s) and they are the connected aliens that draw the resources for the children and themselves.

Religious quotes? Great, then let the religious organizations/persons pay for them. Those type organizations did so before social programs stepped in and that was done because the religious organizations were getting overwhelmed by the demand. It is only a matter of numbers: demand verses supply until the burden outweighs the the resource. It is a wonderful thing to be generous towards those less fortunate, it is totally different to be mandated to pay for others upkeep at the cost of degredation of your own/community resources.
