I always cover mine but I’ve got a friend in Illinois who never covers his.
He claims that as long as there is no hose hooked up, you won’t have a problem.
I can kinda see that if the faucet is connected to a heated building.

I use the square styrofoam things with the rubber that hooks over the faucet turn handle. Less than a buck each at Lowe's.

I always have covers on hand for my faucets and I gave my daughter some last year but she can’t find them.
    I checked 2 HDs and 2 Lowe’s yesterday.
    None in stock.
Let me know if anybody knows of a store that has them.

If you can't find them locally, you can wrap rags around the faucets and tape them in place with Duck Tape or electrical tape.

Don't forget your main water line valve. Below ground level bet exposed to ambient air under the cover. I put a plastic bag (open end up) over the valve and stuff rags inside/around valve then seal bag. This keeps temp out and will let water drain away without soaking insulation. Sprinkler/irrigation valves should also be covered.
