410 semi auto shooting rifled slugs is my guess.

I read somewhere it had to do with the trigger mechanism and the way the SBR status reads. I'll have to find the discussion again.

Looking forward to the explanation. I've heard trigger mech, and I've heard some kind of new way to impart spin on a projectile. Either way, very interesting.

I wonder how a smoothbore 223 would shoot. It’s gotta be ok to 100, right?

Unless there's another leak, I guess we'll find out at SHOT. I'm a fan of outside the box thinking. Also intrigued that Palmetto state is building mp5 clone. Supposedly with an MSRP of around $900. Cool stuff on the horizon!

Not to mention the binary trigger pack that Franklin Armory is releasing... All of this right before I start to seriously consider a Scorpion pistol with a brace. Might just shelve that idea and keep saving my lunch money.

You read my mind. Scorpion was on the short list this tax season... if Palmetto can make an MP5 and mags for it without it sucking, could definitely see myself getting one of them instead.

    So,

    An sbr
Designed to be fired from shoulder
    1. Less than 16"
    Or
    2. Less than 26" overall

    Okay. My prediction.
    1. They took a mission first tactical stock that weighs 6 oz and convince the ATF that it's a stabilizing blade by putting a strap around it

    2. 1 rd per Trigger pull = rifle. This fires once when pulled and once when released. Therefore doesn't meet definition of rifle

Could they play off this definition to move it Into firearm catagory?

Zenith and other clones are just way too pricey but this offering from PSA has the capability of being a game changer. As long as I can quit buying AK's or other prebans, I should be able to have funds saved for one with a binary trigger and some mags. Just have to behave myself and stay off the classified sections.

    The term “short-barreled rifle” means:
    1. a rifle having one or more barrels less than sixteen inches in length
    and
    2. any weapon
    A. made from a rifle if such weapon, as modified,
    B. has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches.

Is that It? Do yall see that?

    That is an AND!
    This reformation.
    1. Barrel less than 16"
    2. NOT MADE FROM A RIFLE OR does this matter?
    3. Is NOT less than 26" overall length

Since it is an AND, it must meet both prongs and this wouldn't

But, I have always read that and as an OR.

I think the "or" is the way it is applied.

MP5s are a lot more complicated than an AR. They are gonna screw the pooch on this one. I'd hate to be their QC once this is released. We all saw how many issues they had with their AR10 platforms. Using worn or out of spec reamers on their barrels. I had to send mine back 3 times.......

Interesting. I didn't know about QC issues with their AR's. Admittedly, an AR10 isn't on my radar nor ever has been. Definitely some food for thought though. Figures as every other MP5 clone is north of $2k. Has to be a reason for that.

The more i think about this . . . .has Franklin Armory pulled off the greatest

    https://youtu.be/6-HUgzYPm9g

?? Frankly, if they have, the backlash will be epic.

On a more serious note, they claimed to have a letter approving that build. Recoil says the ATF sources have stated there is no such letter

If true, they have but a few days to get one or their name will go down in industry history in a bad way.

I have seen statements that claim to be from inside franklinarmory stating that this is not a trigger. In other words they have stated that the trigger has nothing to do with it. That leaves either exploding a new interpretation of the definition of SBR or some form of rifling that the ATF does not interpret as rifling.

Or something else entirely. Who knows.

Looking in my "crystal ball" of past ruleings/decissions by the BATFE,I have come up with this philosophy - - ->
Wag your finger at them, mock them, try to hit them with all kinds of "sea lawyer" bullshit, push them to the limits of their niceness, and they will spin around and bite you like that sweetheart of a wiener dog that you tried to pet through the backyard fence.
I see an extreme amount of shittyness hapening because of the Franklin Armory "sea lawyers". Stand by for the bare knuckle fist fight.
    BTW . . . . . the winner has already been chosen. ---- SAWMAN
