I have owned and carried snub guns for quite some time now. This, both for primary CCW and for a BUG to something else.
I currently have two. One is a S&W Mod 642. I carry it loaded with standard pressure ammo. Also same ammo in a speed loader. This gun will default to my primary carry if needing something for deeper cover or a quick trip here or there if I do not want to put on my "normal" wardrobe.
If I have to go to the gas station to get more lawnmower gas,or a quick trip to get bread or milk,or to Lowe's for two more bags of potting soil or another couple 2 X 4's. I have and old camo vest that I slip on and drop the snubby in the pocket.
These are two options that I have found to carry my 642. One is an old (and cheap ) Fobus holster. I cut the belt clip/paddle thingy off and simply slip the whole thing into my pocket. It is small, light, not much wider than the cylinder of the gun,and the retention is pretty positive. I am right handed and can quite easily push the holster off the gun by putting my thumb on it just in front of the guns cylinder release. When it unsnaps it falls away from the gun very quickly.
The next carry option is a Blackhawk brand pocket holster. What is different about this holster is that the outside is EXTREMELY sticky. The inside is really slick. The holster will not even start to come out of your pocket with the gun still inside. There is also enough of the gun sticking out to easily grab the entire grip.
These are a great way to pocket carry . --- SAWMAN
