When my Dad passed away in 2006, I inherited his guns. One of the rifles is a Smith and Wesson Bolt Action Rifle, with a Schnabel foreend, chambered in 308 Winchester. There is NO model number listed on the rifle, but it does have "Sweden" and "Nitro" stamped on the barrel, so I assume it is a Husgvarna manufactured rifle. From my research, I had assumed it was a Model 1500, but it appears that the Model 1500 was not manufactured in .308, or with a Schnabel stock, but the Model 1700 LS included a removable magazine - which this rifle doesn't have.

Anybody have any information on this rifle or experience with these old S&W Bolt Guns? It's a beautiful rifle, and I would really like to know the Model Number, Date of Manufacture and value. Serial Number is 327150.

    Thanks,

    Ed

If memory serves me correct , that's a very lite weight rifle , I believe that husgvarna did make them for Smith & Wesson . I owned one for several years in the early 80s. I let a friend talk me out it and always regretted letting it get away from me. I can't be of any help on a value. But if you decide to part with it I'd be very interested in purchasing it. Good luck on your quest for information.

    I see a Model B with a Schnabel and Monte Carlo in with a 20 3/4" barrel in .243 but not .308.
I see a Model A with a Rosewood forend tip and checkered Monte Carlo and grip cap 23 3/4" barrel, folding leaf sight in .308
both from Husqvarna imported from '69-'72
    Howa also made some

Thanks for the Info. It has a Monte Carlo and a Schnabel, and a folding leaf sight, but no rosewood fore-end. I'm so confused...LOL

Here are a couple of pictures of the rifle:

FLT - I think I'm going to hang on to it, I'm just trying to figure out what it is, and what it's worth.

it actually states," Model B .243 Win., .270 Win., or .30-06 cal., similar to Model A, except has 20 3/4" barrel, Monte Carlo stock with Schnabel forend.

    The Model A starts at $425 in 100%, $375 @ 98%, $325 @ 95%
    Model B $475, $425, and $305

I had a 1000 Autoloader once that I let the gurl that worked for me talk me out of...kinda miss it...had a skeet barrel and a Mod barrel with it.

The one I had looked like this one and was a 308. The recoil was pretty stout, but that was because of the lite weight.
