What year was it made? I can't tell by the picture is it a grooved receiver?

B52 I have no idea what year it was made. It is a JM but has the cross bolt safety and it is NOT grooved on top for a scope, if that is what you are referring to.

Here, this should help you identify what date it was made, GLWS! Not sure but generally the first 2 of the serial number should match up with somewhere on this sheet.

Most times with no letter prefix simply subtract the first two numbers from 2000. Ex: 1980258 would be 1981 year of manufacturer. After 2000 the chart should help determine the year.

Thanks for the chart Viking! But unfortunately this one isn't represented by any of the numbers. The serial number has no letters, unless the first number is an "O"...
Using 16gauge's method it would be a 1997 gun...
Again I don't have a clue. Sure is nice though. Somebody should buy it!

Nice looking rifle. Is the barrel indexed correctly? Have you had misfires attributed to the rebounding hammer? Have you measured the trigger pull?

I Googled "Marlin Serial Number Look Up" and found the year of manufacture on mine (1967) in no time.
