This pistol was offered to me as a trade for a guitar. This was the only pic offered, along with the following info:

it’s a one owner colt limited revolver that was bought by my grandfather in 1962

Any help with ID/value would be much appreciated.

My first thought was a Banker's Special but production on those was ceased well before '62 so I guess it's a Detective Special.
Why did he say it was limited ?
What is your guitar worth ?

I dunno why he’d say it was limited, what I put in the post was literally all he said about it. My guitar is a Taylor 314ce in immaculate condition. I’m hoping to get around $1000 for it.

I've seen Detective Specials all over the price spectrum. I personally wouldn't give $1,000 for that gun but maybe if you were really into the older ones and it's in excellent condition, maybe.
Is that the actual gun or just a similar one ?
I would ask a lot of questions, especially exactly what model and why he says it's a limited edition.
And, I wouldn't trade thinking that I'm getting something worth a lot more than my guitar and can sell it as such.

Actual pictures of the actual firearm are kinda nessecary. The serial number will let you get at least the year from colts website, maybe more. If he doesn't chime in, drop roaster gallery a line, he deals with these for a living.

Thanks for your help guys. I’ve never been much of a gun “collector”, more of a gun user. I think I’ll pass on this one.
