Yeah, my mileage does vary, in fact. Sounds like you're hanging out with the wrong servicemen.

Yeah it certainly isn't everyone that is acting that way but I have seen it more and more since 01.

Heck I respect the 10 pound heads at Harris and Raytheon and the like that keep us on the technological edge. Bureaucracy procurement process be damned, there are some great civilian inventors out there that have put forth some great ideas to mitigate risk and enhance lethality, but ya know we gotta give our money to foreign countries so ground guys can deal with getting shot and blown up with stuff bought with American greenbacks.....ah well.

Dang Red you may need some counseling after seeing and listening to all that stuff, but to quote a great book "There is Nothing New under the sun!" That means this has been going on since the start of time. I imagine Adam turned to Eve and said "Before you were made from my rib, I was the baddest Man in all the Land!" Funny thing is, that was true.

The best soldier I have ever met in my life was lkilled in action in Sep 07: His name was SFC James Doster. Everyone’s always remembers only the best of heir buddies when they are killed. I have lost a few friends and James is the only guy I can honestly sing his praises, even if he was still alive. He was killed in an ambush in Iraq. Great guy, real hero. I wish I was half the soldier he was.

My buddies and I were just talking about this very subject at a SEAL Team Six reunion this past summer.

Note - I am lying. I've never even met a real SEAL Team Six member or any SEAL team member for that matter but am in awe of what they do as I am of all service members. (But it was KINDA funny)

Then there's this guy's embellishment. I saw the story when it originally aired on Fox News.
Garofalo, a 72-year-old New York glassmaker, became instafamous for a now-retracted viral Fox News segment aired Oct. 8, in which he was extolled for the mammoth glass presidential seal he’d constructed as a tribute to POTUS 45.

I for one am very proud to have served in the U. S. Coast Guard for 23 years. I was an Electronics Technician but also did quite a bit of search and rescue, law enforcement, migrant ops, hurricane and emergency response and community outreach. I didn't have to be flying that helicopter or be a rescue swimmer to be very proud to be a part of an elite group. To be part of a team that was not only bigger than myself but did amazing stuff for this community and this nation. I didn't and still don't have to embellish on what I did to be very proud. No matter if you were the cook, the seal or whatever, you have served this great country and there is no need to stretch the truth. Any military service is like a well oiled and fine tuned machine. You can't do anything correctly without the right parts and every part is just as important as the other.

I'm proud of the 10 years I spent in the United States Air Force as a Telephone and Data Circuitry Specialist, never had a reason to embellish anything! Closest I ever got to War was supporting communications on the flightline during the build up to Desert Storm while stationed at Torrejon Air Base Spain!

Absolutely sickening that this piece of shit gets away with a smack on the hand. Maybe (hopefully) some of the guys in his unit that had to go looking for him will deliver the justice that the military failed to do.

Reduced in rank to E-1 huh. They need to put a hard nosed E-5 personally in chsrge of him to ensure that he assumes the "normal" duties of a E-1.
The rest of his time in the Army, while waiting for his appeal, would be absolutely terrible. My orders to the E-5 in charge of him would be to make him do the absolute worst jobs available. Stay within the law,but push the limits on work, sleep, harassment. That motherflocker would wish he was back in bootcamp. I would also have vids of him scrubbing the nastiest shitters, picking up cigarette butts, washing the cars, etc. I would have him doing heavy lifting, digging with a shovel, and in a location on the base that everyone could walk by him and see him. I would encourage comments be made by other troops.
I would gladly return to active duty as a S.E.R.E. Instructor if he would get orders to my school. I would ensure that he got full benefit of all the training the school had to offer. I would love to see him walk away from the school when it started getting tough. I mean . . . SHIT . . . how would he get out of the small black box or off the waterboard. ---- SAWMAN

After he is discharged, unless he stays completely incognito, I am sure that he will get the "CORRECT" punishment. The judge,by keeping him out of jail, and as long as he is not hidden, could be handing him a much stiffer penality than some damn cushy jail cell in some federal prison.
I believe that word will get out about what town he is in,and some ex-Army types will pay him a visit. Unless he was put into some kind of witness protection type program,IMO,he WILL get his true punishment. ---- SAWMAN

I still have not heard anything meaningful, that made any sense, that wasn't full of contradictions, as to how he was treated for the time he was gone. ( I purposefully did not use the terms in captivity,or a prisioner.)
Is all we know about his treatment is by what he says ?? During the debriefings was their any type of intel corroboration as to how HE says he was treated ??
Remembering the vid of his transfer back into our hands, when he was sitting in the BG's vech . . . he looked better than I did when I came out of a training exercise in Germany or some of the grads from S.E.R.E. School. ---- SAWMAN

I am surprised no one has brought up the Manning wikileaks thing and pardon yet. Talk about treason. We all need to pat ourselves on the back though cause not only did we pay his salary, we paid for his sex change, and probably paying for his VA disability of some sort.

That guys has no idea the amount of damage he did with the stuff he leaked. He did not go thru things and filter anything. He just massive data leaked top secret information on all sorts of programs which absolutely caused deaths out there. Deaths no one will ever realize. Then he gets a pardon!!!!

Snowden, Clinton, the list goes on and on. Those with that kind of experience know what happens if you have a clearance and are Clinton careless let alone Manning malicious. Even if it was unintentional, you get hammered hard, and just pray you escape jail time, let alone get a sex change and pardon, or get to run for president of these fine United States........

There is a justice system for elites and big left wing news stories, then there is the justice system for the rest of us blue collar nobodies, that can serve with distinction and have medals falling out the butthole but mess up once and bam no mercy. Makes me sad to see our system the way it is
