Picked this up as a partial trade.

Don't know much about them and what they're worth. Help would be appreciated. Thanks!

No SKS expert by any means. Looks like a numbers matching Norinco, just missing the spike bayo and cleaning rod. Wood looks decent, metal looks ok too.

If I were in the market for an SKS, and a original looking Norinco had a bayo, rod and sling, I would feel good about shelling out $450 on the low end. Go up from there depending on condition and amount of matching parts. Just throwing a number out there not sure on current market value. I just know that they likely will not be imported again and Chinese unmolested, numbers matching rifles are getting harder to find. A lot of folks take the tacticool route with them and lose the original stocks, fixed mags, etc. Which is not the worst thing if the bolt and receiver, trigger and dust cover match up. It can be restored to its original glory no prob. Once that barrel gets threaded and the trigger bubbafied though...historical value starts to plummet. Thats just my opinion though as I have seen the tacticool ones advertised for $700 and up sometimes, whether or not they get that who knows.
Anyhow, yours looks like a nice example that for probably around 20 bucks on fleabay for a spike kit, cleaning rod and repro sling, can be restored to its original config. Nice rifle man.

Hard to tell if it originally had a spike or blade bayonet. I'm no expert either but depending on which arsenal built them would determine the style bayonet it would have. I own 3 SKS rifles. One Yugo 59/66 and 2 Russian. I've been keeping my eye open for an original Norinco but like Red said, most are being "bubbafied" which loses all value to me. Sometimes it isn't worth it to restore to its' former glory. I've seen a few that are in the $300 range, so patience will get you a good price. Good addition to the collection regardless.

I still remember the days of the early 90's when brand new Norinco SKS'es sold for $99. I recall the new PX being opened at Camp LeJuene and those rifles being sold for $75...they had a honest to goodness semi-tractor trailer full of them to sell...I bought 2, one for my Dad, one for me...sold one for some good $$$, still have the shortened paratrooper version my Dad gave me back since he lives in Chicago, it's NIB still in cosmoline.
