Just reported that the eye will pass to the EAST of Ft. Myers.
IMO,that is good news for us. The storm is now a Cat 2 and with the eye over land,I would guess that it will further weaken.
The map is now showing P'cola not even gonna get gail force winds but things could/can change. --- SAWMAN

Very good news! On the other side there are Humanitarian flights headed out to the Keys immediately with mortuary teams included!

Irma made landfall a couple of hours ago near Marco Island,
Florida with an estimated intensity of 100 kt. The eye just
passed over Naples, and assuming some decay over land, the current
intensity estimate is 95 kt. The interaction with the Florida
Peninsula along with strong southwesterly shear should cause
significant weakening, but Irma's large and powerful circulation
will likely maintain hurricane strength until Monday morning at the
earliest. Irma should be well inland and weaken to a remnant low in
72 hours. The official intensity forecast is above the model
    consensus.

Seems like they is a lot of RV'S in the Wal-Mart parking lots :gossip:

I live just off Highway 90 and in the last few days have seen alot of RVs and travel-trailers heading west.

And though not so much today, for the past several days heading eastward there's been alot of eighteen-wheelers hauling telephone poles and some convoys of Asplundh, MDR and other bucket trucks, no doubt now staged and ready to respond.

Don't Forget about Jose: predicted track is a clockwise 360° then heading towards Fl Atlantic Coast Tuesday afternoon. I regret any ulcers the track watchers get with this one. Lol

I'm leaving my house all boarded up and renting that room at the Holiday Inn Express.

Not a ton of agreement on the models there.

Jax got whacked pretty good with flooding. Sister only lost power for about 24 hours though. My dads place outside Clearwater is still without power though.
