Searched around the ol net for a while and have not been able to find anything even mentioning such a thing. Obviously nobody wants one but me. Anyone see any problems with a two inch or so 1/2x28 threaded device to act like a shotgun choke and also give a little smooth bore stability to a rifled barrel? If the muzzle dia. is reduced below .22 the added back pressure might cycle the action but a little dangerous for obvious reasons. Make no mistake, this is just for sits and giggles.

MM58 . Shot thru a rifled barrel starts to spin ( dounut ) it spreds out faster than smooth , a choke type stabilizer would slow shot , stabilize ?? Not sure . Interesting ! Shooting 22 will it help ? Will try on paper and see . O ring and tube slightly larger diamater , might help , couldnt hurt . Let us know !

Used to make smooth bore 22lr. Remington did. There is also a guy removing the rifling on the 10/22 for the same effect. Saw online didnt check into it. I just have a 22 pistol that is gathering dust because it doesnt do anything other 22 pistols I have dont do better. It also has very un-crisp rifling that is about 1/2 inch long. Would just smooth bore that but nfa says I cant.

Pilots was issued a smooth bore barrel for a 45 acp with some shot shell as a survival kit to shoot small birds. In WW 2. Anny Oakley used a smooth bore barrel with 22 shot shell to shoot glass balls with from a moving horse . Just my 5 cents jj

The smooth bore 22's that I remember were the Rem 580's. They had a 24' bbl and were single shot.
They are not worth much money, even nowadays. I used one in Maine to kill chipmunks and red squirrels that were destructive to the outlying hunters cabins. They worked great at about 10yds max. --- SAWMAN

Remington also had a few more SB (smooth bore) models. The 552, 572, and the Nylon 66, they are out there but usually demand a high premium. Marlin had the model 25G they called the Garden Gun, it came in 22mag and 22lr.
