The 2017 CK Arms Mississippi Open State Championship is in the books, and it was another great match in the Mississippi State Championships Series.

The match had a little bit of everything, mostly searing high heat for those that shot on Saturday, and on and off showers and constant mud for those that shot on Sunday.

The final tally was 86 total competitors competing on 10 challenging stages that featured some of the highest difficulty and distance of all our matches so far.

Stage 1, Eight is Enough, was a short course speed shoot that featured 4 paper and 4 steel and required only 1 hit per paper. Mel Rodero took the stage win with a smoking run of 6.82 seconds.

Stage 2, Shuffling Around, was a 12-round short course that featured a paper and steel array with a mandatory reload. Max Michel Jr. took the stage here, with James Lofton second at 91%.

Stage 3, Hide n Seek, was a 22-round long course that featured a T shape that saw most competitors cut around the corner at the start. Max Michel Jr. won this stage, with Jason Welch right on his tail at 86%.

Stage 4, Sit or Swing, was a 16 round medium course that featured a seated start and a swinger activated by either of two poppers. Max Michel Jr. Won this stage, just edging out Ogie Delarosa at 73%.

Stage 5, To Drop or Not, was a 26 round long course that featured a drop Turner with disappearing targets activated by a stomp box. Max Michel Jr. won this stage, with James Lofton taking a strong second at 95%.

Stage 6, No Drop, wasa 24 round long course that featured backward movement after starting on a deactivated stomp box. Max Michel Jr. Won the stage, with James Lofton taking second at 88%.

Stage 7, Rack it, was a 29 round long course with forward movement that featured an unloaded start and mags staged on barrels. James Lofton won this stage with a 7.1 hit factor.

Stage 8, Backtrack it, was a 29 round long course that featured backward movement through the stage and an unloaded start. Max Michel Jr. won this stage, with James Lofton was second at 77%.

Stage 9, Running Shoes, was a 32 round long course that featured competitors covering a lot of real estate and 11 pieces of steel. Max Michel Jr. won this stage by a country mile, with James Lofton second at 75%.

Stage 10, Standing Steel, was a 12 round short course that featured a paper array and steel array with a mandatory reload. The trick being the paper, including partials, was at 20 yards, and the steel at 35 yards. Max Michel won this stage with a 9 second run, and James Lofton was second at 91%.
