I took the lower from my 8.5" 68 Pistol and put on my new X39 10.5" side charging upper. Had an EoTech red/green clone so am going to try that on this and see how she shoots w the Hornady 123SST, I think it will be a great rd up to 125 yards and very effective. They also have a 16" side charger and may get that too but no real need w my 4, 6.8's

    Just breaking your bits Frank!

How's the charging handle clearance with the optic?

Looks closer in the pic I guess but it is 3/4" gap and because the optic is flat with the side of the upper and the charging handle sticks out there is no issue at all. In fact I had to go charge it and see because I could not remember any issue.

    Frank,

Have you tried the 8M3 ammo from sgammo? I've heard it's about as good a bullet as you can get in x39.

No Sir I have not but have used the S&B brass cased SP before and it was good but none penetrate as deep as the Hornady 123SST 7.62x39, from reviews I have read. Do you have some for sale over there? Just ordered 300 rds to try Thanks

None for sale. Sgammo is the only place I've found it. I've heard lots of good but haven't shot it yet

I think you ought to take the Dremmel Tool to the feed ramps then start shooting that round nose ammo. It would print really close to that other stuff out to about 200.
That X39 has more power than the 6.8 and almost as much as the mighty 300BLK.
Remember not to shoulder that. I have been hearing that the latest "blessing" was a fake letter. --- SAWMAN

It already has the X39 feed ramps, maybe tweak a mag to get it to run? I would like to run that ammo, just looks deadly! Yeah it is a 300wtf killer but cannot hold a candle to my 68's just something to play with for fun and carry around at the lease. I have never shouldered a brace, not sure I would know how to do that???

If I don't sell the 6.8 pistol upper I have for sale I guess it will be a 2 gun lower??

So it is Tula made from a different factory or an old method way? I see people love it. I know the Tula HP does not perform like American HP.

I read a little about it a few weeks ago and supposedly it opened up much better than the standard Russian hollow points. Something about how the copper jacket was scored. Supposedly the 8m3 was imported years ago but but I think they quit making it. Since it was a desireable design SGAmmo talked the manufacturer into remaking it. I would like to buy a couple hundred rounds.

Yeah for $25 a 100 I got 3 boxes coming $5 a 20 and that is not bad, almost bought the 1000 case but wanted to try them first.

Another thought . . . take a small flat file (Harbor Freight) and contour the front inside of the mag to a 45deg angle. This will help with any (but not all) feeding from mag issues that could be holding up the rd from being inserted into the mag.
I do this with all mags,in all chamberings, and even the Mag Pul brand. This really helped with the 50Beowulf mags. My DPMS has no problems feeding the 308/150gr round nose also. --- SAWMAN

What is the advantage of the side charger? I assume easier to charge with an optic. As a right handed person wouldn't a left side charging handle be best? Charge while still holding pistol grip.
