I'm looking for a single shot 410 for squirrel hunting. I have an old higgins/Sears that ejects the empties hard enough to take out an eye. I want a new one that ejects this way. All the modern single shots I've seen don't kick the shells, just lift them to be picked outta the chamber.
Y'all know of any modern, inexpensive shotguns that function this way?

Take a look over at Graybeard Outdoors. There are some NEF / Handi Rifle guru's over there.
IIRC the older barrels had an extractor AND a ejector. The ejector part of the opening cycle was the last couple inches of bbl drop down. This was initiated by a small but extremely stiff spring. Some people that I shot single shots with would take this small spring out so that the weapon would extract only.
Point is . . . . possibly you could simply add this spring back to a 410 bbl to accomplish what you want. I could possibly be waaaaay off base here so don't take a leap without more info. -- SAWMAN

there are better ways of converting ejectors to extractors or vise/versa
check the FAQ's of the H&R/NEF section of graybeard outdoors forum.

FIRST, your JC HIGGINS is a hole different ball-game.
    different type eject/extracts....

    all H&R/NEF shotguns eject...
bad part is, they went out of business in late 2014
there are plenty HR/NEF SG's available at your big-box stores tho
new old stock stuff is still available
