I am in the beginning stages of a 7.62x39 ar build. I am wondering if anyone reloads this round for hunting? I am a hornady fan so I plan on using the 123g SST bullet and am looking for help on which powder and loads are used?
    Thanks,

Will your bore diameter be .308" or .310-.311" ??
Hunting what ?? At the closer ranges (<150yds) I assume ??
You will have to reload for that gun or pay the premium prices for the better (hunting) ammo. The 123gr Hornady will be a good choice . . . then . . . there are some solid copper bullets. You will not have to go above 125grs to find a great killer in the X39 chambering.

Just looked up data for you. The below is from a 18.5" bbl and using LR primers.
All are for the Hornady 123gr SST ( .310")

    H4198 --- 2361fps
    RL7 --- 2370fps
    VV N130
    H322
    AAC 1680
    AAC2015
These top two powders gave the fastest vels. The rest gave >2250fps.
This bullet is designed to open (optimally) at the slower vels. For hunting, worry more about accuracy. If you put together a good weapon, you should be able to get 1.5" - 2.0" groups 100yds, . . . IMO. --- SAWMAN

Maybe I have unrealistic expectations, but I'm surely hoping for better than 1 1/2 inch groups. I'll be shooting under 100 yards for our Florida deer. I ordered a DEZ 18 inch match barrel with 1/10 twist. Thanks for the imput!

Your scope/sight and trigger will make a lot difference in your groups. I have seen some pretty accurate AR's chambered in X39 but the owners have quite a bit of money into their guns and they are very meticulous in their hand loading. --- SAWMAN

I finally got to shoot my new AR 7.62x39 today! I'm really pleased with it. I went with 24.2g of the IMR 4198 using new lapua brass and the hornady 123 SST bullet. I put my target at about 81 yards and the last three shots measured at about .831! I'm pretty sure that would still be an inch at 100 yards.

Just picked up a Cz 527 chambered in 7.62x39 for my short range hunting. Glad to see I went with a good bullet with the Hornady 123 grain SST.

I'll have to pick up some dies and get the little fella dialed in soon.

Have any of you tried CFEBLK? I see it has pretty strong velocities in 7.63X39 and 6.8 SPC

I have good accuracy with Sierra game kings 123gr. Will be my first year hunting with it. I use 4198 and haven’t had a chance to chrono.

.311 and .310 bullets shoot well from my .311 Bore CZ. I haven’t had it long so still experimenting.

Let me know how it shoots. I have one that has light primer strike issues on reload and factory ammo. I have even tried just neck sizing. I have read countless forums where others have had the same issues. I contacted CZ and they told me in so many words the gun was designed for steel case ammo. I haven’t tried any yet.

I had the same problem with my AR build (7.62x39) got a
a hair longer firing pin, problem solved. No pierced primers to date.
