Ordered a lower that was on close out. It WAS advertised as 223/5.56 (I went back and checked the ad). Received it today and found it is marked .223 WYLDE.

Being only marginally aware of the .223 WYLDE, I am thinking it is a good thing or at least not at all a bad thing. Does anyone have any experience with ARs in this caliber and if so, what is you opinion?

I am unlikely to return it, but would like some additional perspective!

    Lower or upper?

    Lower doesn't matter.

Upper only matters a little bit more. Size wise, it's in between 5.56 and .223. both rounds should shoot fine out of it.

It's not a caliber. It's a chamber designation that will shoot both .223 and 5.56. It is a middle ground to get the better accuracy of the .223 and handle the 5.56 pressures at the same time.

Are you sure you're not talking about the upper? Stamping a lower with 223 Wylde does not make a lot of sense. But I'm no expert.

Upper, DUH. I sit corrected....had the new lower on my mind when I typed as I had just unpacked it. Thanks guys. Was looking for some comments from those who have shot rigs in that caliber. Reading online I am strongly inclined to consider it a lucky break!

Like TP said in his post #3. You basically made out good as the Wylde is usually a little more that either a 223Rem or a 5.56X45.
It will most likely have a 1:8 twist rate also. I do not feel that the Wylde chamber is any more accurate than the other two. Perhaps if you handload for accuracy. --- SAWMAN

Any factory or milspec/NATO type ammo labled 223Rem or 5.56X45 will safely shoot in this upper.
Some will be more accurate than others. --- SAWMAN
