    Guys,
Does anyone know of a type of tape that goes on the inside of scope rings to prevent ring marks on scopes. I'm using the cheap Weaver quad rings from Walmart. The rifle came with a Weaver rail base, so I just bought the these rings to save money. I'm starting to buy better scopes and want to avoid marks when mounting.

I think some Mfgs add it to allow for minor variance in alignment of rings/base(s). You can also Lap the rings. Truely, if the scope body is getting damaged there is a problem other then tape. Scopes often get ring damage when they are tightened improperly, drawing one side down at a angle which could damage the body. Ring fasteners should be drawn down evenly maintaining a even gap between upper and lower halfs AND front and rear mounts are done at the same time not one then the other.

There is discussion about scope tape/spacing material at the Link.
