what specifically is your current biggest achievement and what is your biggest immediate challenge?
how can we help at this point?

I think good progress has been made, she is having physical therapy twice a week, and doing the homework they give her every day, occupational therapy focuses on upper body, they come once a week, but she has homework to do with that also, hand weights and ankle weights are coming too...she walks with the PT, to the gate and back, approx. 150 yards total, slowly of course, after he leaves, it is usually nappy time for her...

she has been able to do small chores, washing dishes and doing light loads of laundry, by opening the door to the garage, throwing the basket down , then going down the steps using the handrail..

I have been doing most of the cooking, other than microwave meals, she is able to use the laptop and
get on her facebook page, so I am going to call that our best accomplishment, reading and comprehending & navigating on puter and tv channels..

any inbound information is good for her comprehension, but she must verbalize the words she reads, they want her reading out loud, as that uses
additional senses to fix the words in her new brain connections..i have not
    gotten to do that yet..

biggest challenge: leaving her alone & trusting she will not do anything beyond her capability right now,
we have resumed going to church, but leaving off sunday school for right now, as that is a bit much for her energy level, and she is not reading as well as she would like.. I have noticed in the evenings, and when she is under pressure verbally to give an answer to a nurse, she stumbles more verbally....the evenings are due to needing to sleep I think..

she has had 3 falls, one when an animal got in the way, put her to her knees and hands, one when she moved too fast turning around, & one yesterday when a cat got outside & she went to get her, did great til she got close to the back door, then turned around to call the dogs in, lost her balance & went down with the cat in her arms.

but thankfully, no damage with all three.

speech therapy is giving her the most problems, struggling for the right words, she has homework to do with that too, naming states, countries, colors and what they are associated with, ie. blue=ocean, red=stop sign,

she said other things have those same colors, but I explained the therapist is working both on word recall, and memory associations with the specific words given..

I am still working at home, but the trial program of teamviewer has expired that allows me to access my workstation computer...now on LogMeIn, but that
is fixing to end next week also..both programs costs hundreds of dollars, which I cannot swing, and don't know if my boss will pay for them or not..

she is wearing a phillips lifeline alert button to hit if she has a bad fall, or feels like something is wrong with her, but I am not sure when I can go back to work right now.

Praise God the headaches she has had every day since the stroke quit last weekend sometime, maybe the blood was finally absorbed by the body...

mentally we are doing ok, but she is discouraged she cannot find the right words to say yet sometimes, we have to be patient. recovery can take months, although the most progress is within the first 3 months

speech therapy is her biggest challenge, she feels like she is stupid when the words don't come, or come out wrong..

what can you do? keep on praying for her recovery, other than that, right now our needs are met, Thank You Lord.

    updates;

I am playing doctor right now, changing her dressing on a sizeable skin cancer surgery on her leg (MOHS), a squamas cell cancer(in the basal category).

waiting on approval for blood work and MRI with dye contrast, vascular surgeon specialist, trying to find out WHY she had the stroke, and if there
is any more blockage(doc thinks so)

if that area can be renourished, that is good, but dead brain cells don't come back..

my work is stressing me out bigtime, got to take a vacation away from this shit soon

language return is still ongoing, good time, bad times...

she did ok today, two naps, washed the dishes, and cleaned the cat boxes, along with letting animals in, out during day

tomorrow, I am insisting on her exercises, and sweeping the floor with a fine broom, maybe a ld of clothes

thanks for all the prayers going up...

ok gang, put the prayers out there for tomorrow, 0900, Kim has a long awaited angiogram with contrast, so the vascular spec/surgeon can finally see everything she needs to see.

very low chance of anything happening, but prayer never hurts.

    caveman

    thanks guys and gals
