I saw this on slickguns. It sounds like it would be a good house gun for someone on a limited budget and/limited experience such as mother in law or sister in law. It is a six shot also which is better than the new low end five shot revolvers in the same price range.https://www.slickguns.com/product/smith-wesson-stainless-model-64-289?view=list

I would rather have the hammer also but for the type of people I mentioned it would work great. I am not going to buy one but am curious if you could swap the hammer out for one with a spur? Of course then you are adding to the cost and maybe its not worth it. Just curious.

swap is possible. Cost to buy hammer is $150+. Action is probably really smooth and DA is easy to adjust to

The hammer replacement is easy, but it's not a target revolver, not with those horrible sights, so I wouldn't bother.
The best use I'd see for it is installing a spring kit and set it up as a defensive tool. I find smooth DA easier to shoot than any stock striker setup.
Nice price though, I'd pick one up if I didn't have several projects going on at the same time.

I have a DAO Ruger SP101, hammer flush with frame. I am quite pleased with it. If they bought these in bulk Qty it would be interesting to know who operated with them.

Very good write up here on S&W forum. For a affordable stainless "custom" 3" RB 38 Smith you could chop a inch off the barrel and convert to round butt pretty easily but I would need to take it to someone to put front sight back on. Any k frame hammer of same design should work if you wanted to convert it from dao. Same 64 with hammer from SOG $100 more.

leave it as is, pick up a few speedloaders, holster and use it for IDPA revo division. In the game for less than $350.

My initial thoughts exactly. But then I realized it has no sights.
