Was talking parts the other day and BCGs came up. Here's a couple that I have...
    1. Aimsurplus.com NiB- milspec construction is good and consistent, finish is the same

    2. WMD NiB- milspec construction is good and consistent, finish is great (a little dirty from previous range trip)

Overall the two BCG work, with each having a few hundred rounds a piece without issue and gas keys are still good. NiB finish on both is good with the WMB being a little different tint which I like.
The biggest difference between these two is the milling finish process. The edges and polished surfaces are better overall on the WMB. Hopefully the pictures show the circles and sharp edges on the Aim bcg. This has not affected the function or wear on the rifle but it is noticable.

    Price point-
WMD w/ hammer from Primaryarms is $180 while the Aimsurplus is usually around $100.
Is it worth the extra $80 bucks?.. For a budget build range gun I'd still get the Aimsurplus. For anything else that is going to see significant use or be required to run 100%...WMD or something comparable in the NiB finish.

Hope this helps any prospective buyers getting into the AR genre. JW

I will also vouch for the AIM and WMD NiB BCGs. I can also attest to the high quality of the LANTAC E-BCG. These are NiB BCGs that cover the spectrum. AIM being the lowest priced with WMD right in the middle and LANTAC being on the upper end. PSA NiB BCGs are right there with AIM as far as price, finish, and durability. Spikes Tactical NiB BCGs would have a slight edge on the AIM and PSA. WMD and Fail Zero are pretty comparable. The LANTAC E-BCG is the best NiB BCG I have used to date. Of course, you pay for that kind of quality. For those that have much deeper pockets and want something a bit more exotic, there are the Titanium BCGs which can cost from around $425 and up. There is also stainless steel BCGs available as well. Just an FYI, Tactical Link carries a wide assortment of very good quality BCGs.

Great thread...thanks JWLineman and Tackleberry! Do any experienced people have other brands to add, or comments on BCG coatings? This would make a very useful sticky, especially when those BCG sales pop up in the email inbox.

These two are the only NiB bcg that I have used. As far as standard BCGs, I've had PSA premium, Spikes, and Andersons. All were milspec and generally good quality. The finish and appearance is the divider. I feel, generally speaking, you get what you pay for.

I think the guys on here will be OK with "dirty" pics...of the bcg specifically.

Of the standard phosphate-coated BCGs I have used over the years, they include ones from Colt, LMT, PSA, DS Arms, Del-Ton, Windham Weaponry, Spikes Tactical, AIM Surplus, Rock River Arms, CMMG, DPMS, and a couple others. I recently bought a Nitride-finished BCG from Battle Arms Development which is stunning and well finished. Every bit as slick as a NiB BCG and needs very little lube as well. It cleans up very well.

Here is a dirty JP QPQ next to a ultra cheap Ares Armor Phosphate BCG. The QPQ is the slickest one I've ever used, its the nicest quality one I've ever had but have only shot 100 rounds maybe with it.
The Ares has a 3-4k and has been rebuilt once with a BCM kit and has been perfect from what I can remember

I don't think that Ares Armor is even around any more but here's a slickguns ad for it:

    Here is the JP

Yea that is a lightweight carrier and is pretty tame looking compared to some of the other lightweights out there. It also had no forward assist notches so it looks ultra smooth all the way around it.

I freaking hate that one haha. I'm sure it works just fine but my brain hates things with holes like that. I get itchy just looking at it.

I assume the lighter the bcg, the better to pair with an adj. gas block for shorter barrels and/or suppressed shooting
I'd rather have a squared off looking bcg to that one honestly.

I came across the full brand new JP LMOS setup on m4carbine for a insanely low price and snatched it up in less than 5 minutes of the ad being opened.
Didn't really care to go with the lightweight stuff but it's been nice. I do use a adjustable gas block and have it almost all the way closed and it cycles low powered .223 perfectly. Very soft shooter.

    Respectfully disagree.

There are several ways to tune your rifle. An adjustable gas block is an easy way to do so and can be an inexpensive way too. If you're trying to adjust the amount of gas/pressure in the system with off the shelf components there are only so many options. An adjustable block has been acknowledged by several manufacturers (noveske, pof, pws, Adams, Sig, etc) as a good option for suppressor equipped firearms.
