A gunman who federal authorities say had possible ties to terrorism opened fire early Sunday morning at a packed Florida nightclub, killing approximately 20 people and wounding scores more in a bloody scene that ended hours later when police stormed the building and killed the suspect.

The police are now calling it a terrorist incident but not Islamic terrorism, but it will be the so called "assault weapons" fault not the who man pulled the trigger when the pos I mean potus talks about it.
Yep. And I hate to sound insensitive because I really do feel for the victims and their families, but among my first thoughts while watching the news unfold were "here we go again". As in, here we go again with the skyrocketing of prices for ARs, and the all around shortages that ensued after Newtown. I hope I'm wrong.

I know it's too much to ask for these network news people to say AR15 type rifle or AR15 pattern rifle instead of AR15 assault rifle until they find out if it truly was a select-fire. But I just heard on FOX one of their talking heads, former homicide detective Rod Wheeler, say regarding the rifle "you can fire a hundred rounds in nine seconds". Really?

not a hate crime, not workplace violence, not an act that was impossible to predict. Suspend disbelief, there is a guerilla war going on around the world and on our soil. Any other characterization of this event is incorrect and maybe dishonest depending on the person making the statement. I would think that the admission by our leadership that we are at war would totally undermine every narritive put forth over the past 71/2 years. No admission will be made.
As individuals, we are responsible for our own safety. Police are reactive, soldiers are proactive...but first, the people who are responsible for protecting us from threats, foreign and domestic, have to properly id and name the enemy. Until they do, we are on our own. I felt that National security was not going to be a big issue in the upcoming election and it still may not, but we are just beginning Ramadan and it is really, really difficult to combat these kinds of incidents so this may wind up a tipping point...or not.

Still a developing story, but according to the L.A. times, police found assault rifles and explosives in the car of a man who claimed he was on his way to the Pride Festival in Los Angeles today.

Fox News reported three hours after the call swat killed the terrorist. My thoughts are citizens have to be able to defend themselves, sadly people died in that three hour window. The next attack may have four or ten shooters then what?
