I'd heard rumors of the Gen 2 MPX when the released the MPX as 9mm only. Those rumors had also mentioned that the upper was the issue and that gen 1 uppers may not be able to shoot .40/.357 at all.

Looks like the new upper has some changes and would seem to be setup for the new calibers. The kicker is the Gen 2 takes a new mag. WTF? MPX mags are spendy. Now for the Gen 1 guys there's going to be a limited number of them and they're probably going to be more expensive (speculation on my part). I feel like that was a bit of a hose job by Sig.

Those previously mentioned rumors had also mentioned Sig "taking care of" those that had got the Gen 1 with a "cheap" upgrade.

    Time will tell.

Hope they don't drop an MCX 2nd gen anytime soon.

Edit: read somewhere that the Gen 1 mags will work in the new upper but the gen 2 are not backwards compatible.

Geez... that seems like a raw deal for early adopters for sure, probably won't help the value of the 1st gen guns. When I was looking into them I saw there was more than 1 version of the 1st gen as well, seems like Sig sent something to market that wasn't quite ready. I'm glad I didn't pick one up, but still wouldn't mind a 4.5" SBR...
