These radios are like new. Used them on one job then they sat in my closet for ever. These radios are still in great shape and very good quality. Both radios will have batteries in them. They will also come with 2 MOLLE adaptable cases, 2 additional antennas, 2 hand mikes, 1 extra battery, and 1 charging station.

Really couldn't tell you. I picked them up without knowing any thing about them. It took me a little bit to figure out how to set them up to use. A buddy of mine who does the ham radio thing as a hobby said they were decent radios and helped me get them set up. Sorry I don't have any info for you.

Not that I am aware of. Honestly that thought never crossed my mind. I am not even sure where to start looking for laws regarding that. You have any advice on where to start?

I am not current but it appears to me to have frequencies available that require licensing and some that do not. Someone better versed in current regs may pop in and help. All I know is that these are fine robust radios.

Is there a manufacturers label "inside" the radio? Where the battery snaps in? It should list model number, band, frequency range, and other info. That would help figure this out.

Looks like you've got UHF radios there, that operate between 380-470MHz. The band plan for amateur operation on the UHF band is between 420-450MHz. You need a license to operate on those frequencies. I am not aware of any need to have a license outside of 420-450MHz, but I am no authority on that. Most of those IHF frequencies outside of 420-450 are used by different agencies from govt, to law enforcement and EMS, for example.

Those are mighty fine radios. EF Johnson makes a great product. Where I "work" is switching to 7/800 digital in a few months or I would jump on this.
