I saw this article on one of my other forums also. I can genuinely seeing this happen after the next shooting. Cause, it will be "for the safety of the children".
I enjoy WWII and post WWII history and it is quite disturbing, scratch that - straight sickening, how the "safety of the children" ideal was used in various regimes to gain control of the people and for the people to willingly hand it over. Sadly, I agree with you that the possibility of this happening here, based on that very foundation, is real. I think I recall a few bills that were squashed a while back that involved the requirement of and definition of a "secured firearm" which would make you a criminal by not following strictly defined rules on how to appropriately store your weapons.
