Can anyone suggest a 'smith in the Pensacola area who can do a barrel switch on an AR-15? Nothing exotic, just a simple shift from a 9-twist to a 7-twist, rifle and spare barrel sitting in my gun safe.

I'm sure a number of us here on the forum could do this for you. Gonna depend on what part of town you're on. If you're out near Molino, I can swap em for ya.

Is there a front sight post involved, or is this free floated? This isn't a big job, I'd be happy to help and have the tools, but am in Daphne. Like Jogan said, I am sure someone on the forum would lend a hand.

This man turned my AR into a tack driving machine, and he did everything properly. If he's offering to help, I'd take him up on it.

Right now I'm waiting to hear back from the guy I got the barrel from. The rifle is a S&W M&P 15 OR -- just a gas block with a Picatinny rail on top, single pin holding it to the barrel.

If it comes to that, I have no problem driving up to Daphne. I'm there most weekends anyway! I work out of a home office and my schedule is what I want it to be as long as I meet my deadlines.

Instead of paying a gunsmith to swap the barrels, spend that money on the tools you need and do it yourself. There's nothing to it. An AR is like a lego set. You have to try real hard to screw it up.

Yeah, sorry! Yes, Fortis VFG on Fortis 14" rail. I think I'll put the Fortis Aimpoint mount on it too. Fortis, very light and good looking stuff.
