So, last week I traded for a Rem 700 tactical in .308 and I got it out on the range Thursday. I must say, I'm VERY happy with it. It's got a hogue stock, timney trigger, Harris bipod, KRG bolt lift, weaver base, and a Nikon M-308 4-16x42 with BDC sits on top. I'm no expert at precision shooting, but this was my best three shot group at 100yrds with factory ammo (CBC 168 HPBT) and a pic of the equipment I took out with me.

Yeah, I'd like to put it in a sled and push the distance to see what she can do

    That will help a bunch.
Remember that groups are measured center to center so just subtract the bullet diameter from the outside measurements.

Good to know, thank you for the input! I've always been more of a pistol guy so I'm trying to learn about distance shooting. I'd really like to see her perform at 600 and eventually move to 800.

I have only been able to shoot @ 300 yd. so far but I'm enjoying it. I need a bigger and better scope before I try stretching it much farther.

Good shooting. I've been thinking of a .308 build myself but mine would be a semi using the Aero Precision upper and lower.

Yeah, I'd like to build a SASS, like the Mk110. I'm still weighing options on what the best equipment would be.

Haha. I'm headed to "the Stan" soon and I think a mk110 build is what I may reward myself with when I get back.

Yeah I got a reprieve. Going to paramedic school now. Once done going to a combat aviation brigade then off to wherever. Most likely Stan once again.

I found a pre recall 700 sps tac on gunbroker. Won it for $555 which i feel is a good deal. Cant wait to get it. In the meantime im shopping for a stock, scope base, rings and of course a scope. I am kinda bummed i didnt just get the aac-sd version but whatever. My bank account will thank me later.

If I may ask. How are you setting up the gun for each shot? Are you pressing into the bipod and loading pressure into it? Are you using a rear bag to support the stock of the rifle or just your hand?
I know a lot of people like using a lead sled too lock down their rifles with the idea of trying for the purest accuracy a rifle is capable of, but you would be pleasantly supprised how much better it will shoot keeping it out of a hard mount. The sled doesnt allow for the rifle to properly recoil and throws the harmonics all out of whack.

I've had one for many years, stuck it a HS precision ltr stock and it's by far my favorite bolt gun currently
