love to shoot mine as well, just hate to clean it properly, haha. Cleaning a stainless gun for someone who gets quite meticulous is a royal PITA! You cant halfway clean a stainless gun, all or nothing!

Yeah, I spend a lot of time cleaning mine!!!! It's a PITA for sure. I especially have to have my breech face clean! And dang if that thing will get caked with hard to get off stuff.

a copper brush works like a charm on the breech face and extractor face. a must have tool.

    Evil Enabling Things...

Knowing that SARCO has Para-Ord LDA slides & frames for CHEAP now...
Not to mention other frames & slides...you can build your own
Para-Ord for literally 1/3 the price of a new one.

If you want a 9mm 1911 with few headaches, Star B, BM, & others
are in the sub-$250 range...you'll learn more from Cerakoting or
Stovetop Parkerizing one of those (they all need a good refinish)
    than you can imagine :)

Ballester-Molina...looks like a GI-1911 minus the Grip Safety.
Shoots like a dream, uses standard 1911 Barrels, Recoil Spring,
Barrel Bushing, Mags, and a few other parts...
the frame, however, is the spitting image of a Star PD with 1911 safetys.

And those are some of the most inexpensive ways to get started...
or to have a few pistols that you can learn to work on and you won't
feel too bad if you goof up doing something dumb with a Dremel ;)

I've been waiting for one of the Mfgs that make six inch 10mm 1911s to chamber that length in 45APC for under $1K. It would be a nice addition to the standard offerings that have been produced for years. I can order on from the premium builders but I don't like it that $ much. Lol
