As long as you have the proper holster and not some cheap piece of crap one and don't put your finger on the trigger, it's not going to discharge.
There were a few times when we were deployed and having a displayed gun was frowned on(bullshit I know) so I tucked away my beretta in the front of my pants. Never went off, unless I wanted it to. The reason guns "magically go off" is because someone pulled the trigger.
