Thinking about getting one of these. Any pros and cons?

I've had one for a couple of years, never any problems with cycling. I should have gotten the pistol grip instead of the regular stock to absorb the shock from 3 1/2 shells. if you are interested I have had mine for sale off and on. I went to 20 gauge on my shotguns, slightly less recoil. I shoot alot so its alot easier on my shoulder after about 10 rounds. i will sell mine for a fair price , no giveaways though.PM and i can send pics...

I have the SPX version of it and it didn't like light loads at first but after running a good few shells through it and cleaning it real good no more problems.

I have the 930 SPX & I like it. I had few failures to extract at first but run great now. You just need to be sure to take the piston completely apart when you clean it. Which I did not. LOL

Thanks for the input guys. This would be home defense only. The few failures make me nervous for this use. I think I'll stick with my pump.

I agree that's best for home defense.

You're just not losing that much in rate of fire, to give up the utter reliability of a pump.

The recommended break-in is around 500 shells of high brass ammo for the SPX. My brother has one and it was frustrating with all of the hick-up's at first. It did not like cheap (#7.5 & 8) ammo but it has never failed a buckshot, slug, or waterfowl shell. I would trust it for self defense only after the break-in and only with a high brass type ammo.

Pumps can't be beat for ease of use& reliability.

Mine never failed with high brass, only low brass. I bought mine mostly for fun/ 3 gun work but trust it with high brass. I guessing I have 450 rnds threw it mostly bird shot & Remington buckshot.

I had a rusted spring in the extractor (evidently from factory) that quit on my last outing. I plan to run 150 of the low recoil federal buckshot before I would trust my life with it running low brass.

I knew it would likely have some break in issues.
