It's sad but it's the same mentality that other's use to defend themselves.

"I was in fear for my life"
    "I felt threatened"
"I felt like my life was in danger"

Whether there was an actual threat or a perceived threat - does not matter as long as the individual felt threatened.
    Shoot first and survive. SMH

47 shots against a pocket knife seems indefensible.

I know the Geneva convention doesn't apply here, but even it states that counterforce must be proportional to the threat. Can we at least hold these guys to the law of armed conflict, and not a lower standard?

Can anyone say "Police State"? Cause it looks like we may be headed there. Whatever happened to "To Protect and Serve"?

Theres just no excuse for all this stuff. Its getting harder and harder to have any respect for any of them.

There was a case over here where the cop went over to his mostly ex-girlfriends house, on duty, in uniform, with his police cruiser parked out front. He got into an argument with her, drew a hideout gun and shot her in the head. Since she wasn't dying fast enough to suit him, he decapitated her, then drug her body out into the back 40, before the kids got home from school and wondered where mom was.

Turns out the chief of police had known all about previous assaults, stalking, etc being reported, but did not act, because he "would have to fire the guy".

Her family got nothing, since the guy was a city employee on duty at the time, and thus immune from civil action. Finally the city agreed to at least pay to bury her.

Here is a place to start your research, lest anyone think I'm making any of it up.

I read stories like this all the time. The ones that also do not get mentioned often are the ones like when the cops up in NY shot 30 rounds at a perp and missed 28 shots between several officers.

So the female cop stated she didn't like the look of him and more cops should get there quickly or she was going to have to shoot him. There is something seriously wrong with that statement in itself. Wow.

47 shots and they only hit him 11 times at that range?

Even beyond the concept of excessive use of force it amazes me how bad of shots some police can be.
