    We Were Soliders

What a movie, I thought Mel Gibson and JohnAl were good in that movie. It always makes me choke up and really reflect on things. the one aftwer it was good too, Windtalkers with Nickolas Cage.

Great movie, my father-in-law was assigned to Hal Moore's unit as a commo troop and was at the Battle of Ia Drang. He lost a lot of good friends during that engagement.

"We Were Soliders Once" was an excellent movie, despite all the touchy/feely parts. "Windtalkers" was a joke, 16" naval rifles making the same size gasoline explosions as hand grenades, come on special effects guys. Ashamed too because it was a chance to make a good historical movie.

"Band of Brothers" was by miles the best movie/mini series every made on war, nothing come close. "Saving Private Ryan" was good too.

"The Pacific" was another chance to make a very good historical mini series but failed miserably.

"Act of Valor" is another must see !!!

Another great VN war movie is "Firebase Gloria" (got the Gunny in it).

Being a military historian and war movie buff one thing I've found is a common thread in all war movies, as soon as a solider announces he's a new father or going to be soon, he's a dead man. That should be in "Rules for Combat" book.

The out takes are priceless. The one about the guy showing up to formation naked is one of the best scenes I've watched.
