My CX4's trigger was horrendous and I saw HERE that some people had modified it to make it break cleaner and lighter than stock. I decided to try it out.

First, I had to remove the takedown button and slide the top half off the bottom half.

This is how the hammer looked originally.

I took a little material off with a needle file:

This was my stopping point. I finished it off by taking some 1000 grit sandpaper to it to remove the burrs and added a small dab of grease before reassembly (thanks to Ian for those ideas):

The trigger started out over 8lbs and I got it just under 6lbs after it was all said and done. Only took about 15-20 minutes total and it was well worth the time and effort.

    Nice results.

Is the hammer plastic? May just look that way in the picture.

Looks like the engagement angle was changed from positive, to neutral....and the last pic looks a bit negative.
Hope it just looks that way. It would certainly make the trigger pull lighter...but also could be unsafe.
Most triggers are not safe with a negative engagement angle.
A neutral angle with a smooth finish is a good starting place on a trigger job.
The edge of the hammer engagement face should be square...not rounded off.
I wonder if the positive angle was a safety feature that was engineered into it since it was plastic?

The engagement is neutral after the filing and the surface is flat, although it looks rounded in the pictures.

Cool. I figured you knew what you were doing.
If others are following the tread...or another one....they should know it can be unsafe to alter the engagement faces of the trigger mechanism.

The tutorial thread you linked to has some good info.

The only negative I've read about this particular mod for the CX Storm is that it may increase the potential for a discharge in the event that is it dropped while the hammer is cocked. I've been contemplating doing this to mine.....

    Great picture quality!!

Any chance to shoot the gun with the mod?

I read that too, so I drop tested it 5 or 6 times after I finished filing and never had the hammer fall. I tried muzzle up, muzzle down and horizontally, so I feel comfortable with it.

I actually stopped by the range this afternoon to shoot it and it is much, much better than stock.

I'm going to be bringing it to the swap meet on Saturday if anyone would like to try it out.

What calibers is yours? Just curious.
I'm sure the disclaimer on the discharge was a precaution to the folks that would file off far too much material
