Open to ideas/experiences. Thanks. I am wanting to paint a rifle camo using camo spray paint sold at Walmart. I have wanted to do this for years. I like the "worn" camp look. Gonna offer up my old savage .270. Thanks y'all.

First of all it won't hold up but if you must...lay down your base color typically a light tan then use leaves, sticks, straw etc as masking and come out with progressively darker colors. Alternate directions and just mist enough paint to leave the outline of the object you're using in that spot.

That thing looks good. Thanks guys. I am thinking a tan-light green-and olive drab combo type look to blend in with the woods around here. I am not trying to hide it from deer, just make it look cool and have fun doing it!

www.liquideffectshg.com Check him out, he is a local fireman and he does this on the side. He does excellent work and is ocd so if its not perfect he will strip it back down to redo it until its right. There is only a couple people in town that do this and he has been to the class for it, has one of the biggest tanks intown and is a perfectionist. He has all kinds of different pattern's and designs. If you check out his website and decide its something you are interested in pm me and ill talk to him to let him know I know you and sent you and he will give you a forum discount.

If you do a Google search for camo patterns or stencils I'm sure you can find something you like & just print it out & go from there,,,,, I plan on doing my muzzleloader stock after season.
As much as I like the dip patterns it is kinda fun doing things myself, & you should be able to order your own starter kit for under $50

Tape up the parts I don't want painted with blue masking tap, spray my base layer with a few coats too make sure it'll last for a while. Then I'll take a piece of cardboard and cut different radius all down one side of it. I'll use that as a template for spraying all of the "camo" designs. It's actually better for it too be random and a little spastic. Remember there aren't any recurring patterns in nature.

I spray painted our jon boat buy making 3 separate stencil designs with a software program that designs anf cuts and layering them in the camo colors. I think it turned out pretty good.

Also, to make it last a bit longer use a few coats of clear(non gloss) coat. Let each coat dry before spraying the next coat. Same goes for the paint itself. Mine held up great. Clear coat does wonders. If I can find some pics of my old stock I'll post them here.

    First spray paint job

Looks like shit due to impatience. Post primer it was engine enamel and rubberized undercoat.

It was fun, but for any guns I value, I'll take em to a pro.

    (Don't rush)
