Daughter and wife got sick yesterday so I had to stay home today and play dr. After hunting this year a little and wearing an iwb holster, I've wanted a belt holster for walking through the woods. Picked up some throw aways at work (an old climbing belt) and went to work today while they were sleeping

cool! I love it. Not so much because its the newest coolest most aesthetically pleasing thing known to man. But, I love it because its something you came up with on your own, had the initiative to complete, and shared with the rest of us. AWESOME JOB!

Good job Aaronn! Yeah I like it because its home made.

What kind of fasteners are those? For some reason I can't see them really well.

I've been thinking about making some sort of prtotection for my phone. I don't want to belt carry it, it stays in my pocket and my car keys scratch the face. I use screen protectors but they don't last long. No one makes anything suitable because my phone model hasn't been out long plus I bought a high capacity battery pack for it and the hump screws me ordering anything. I was thinking about Kydex but I would have to make a hinge. Need to start thinking it through.

I've made a few holsters before and they all turn out pretty ugly too. I use what i call split rivets. It looks like the old fashioned close pin with a washer.
I don't like the shape of it next the the grip so I'll be changing it my next off day

OK, I see them better. Aaron, I have a pile of large head blind rivets used by racing car builders if you want to try them. Very strong, about the.same size as the ones you used and will pull with a standard rivet gun. If you want to try them let me know and I'll give you some. I have plenty.

Yeah, just large head, better material than those cheap hardware store rivets. I think shaft size is 3/16". I'll post a picture when I get home tonight. You use a.washer on the backside, they won't pull out.

The only problem with those is they aren't flush on the back. I've used the aluminum ones and didn't like the bulge on the back side

Baiscally hammer the backside with an approprately shaped dolly to flatten them down further. I do it on other stuff. Not recommended for high stress situations with vibration or heavy sheer but unless youre one badass mofo it shohldnt be an issue.

Yeah I've used Chicago screws before and they work well. I just had these on hand. Butcher rivets don't work worth a crap on anything.

They just snap together and never hold...design flaw I suppose

Ok. Filed away as useless POS. LOL

Thanks for the trouble drawing that out Aaron. I googled "butcher rivets" but all I got was butcher knives.

When I was making ugly knifes I tried them countless times and they kicked my ass each time. I wish I could find the ones they use on blue jeans

I have found close on ebay, I believe, a copper rivit with washer and you hand hammer / Peen it on the backside and it flattens out nicely. Looks great on leather or such.

Did you ever finish that holster up the way you wanted? Quite an awesome idea. This was months ago, so I bet many would love to see how it's held up with a substantial amount if use. Assuming you've worn it…
