    How's that swamp draining going?

Mnuchin sought military jet for his European honeymoon:

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin asked for a military jet to take him and his wife on their European honeymoon, according to a report late Wednesday.

The unusual request triggered an inquiry by the Treasury Department’s Office of Inspector General, ABC News reported, and Mnuchin’s office ended up withdrawing the request after deciding it was “unnecessary.”

An Air Force spokesman told ABC News that the requested jet costs about $25,000 an hour to operate.

Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., who’s on the Senate Finance Committee, told ABC News that he was flabbergasted by the request. “You don’t need a giant rulebook of government requirements to just say yourself, ‘This is common sense, it’s wrong,’” Wyden said. “That’s just slap your forehead stuff.

A Treasury spokesperson told ABC News that Mnuchin wanted the Air Force jet to ensure secure communications during his honeymoon to Scotland, France and Italy earlier this summer. Sources told ABC News that typically a Treasury secretary would not be entitled to use a military jet unless there was an emergency situation.

In August, Mnuchin came under fire for taking an Air Force jet with his wife to Kentucky, where they watched the solar eclipse from the rooftop of Fort Knox, home to $200 billion in gold. That trip also triggered a review by the Treasury’s Office of Inspector General, and the Treasury said Mnuchin would repay the government for the flight.
This might be a sign that it's time to revive those bumper stickers....you know the ones...."Ground Air Force One, Not Our Blue Angels". Remember that?

So rioting on Georgia Tech campus because campus security shot a white girl after a student called cops for help because they said a drunk girl wouldn't put down a knife that was actually a utility tool with the blade not out. Whether the blade is out or not she's a college student (female) you shoot and kill her because she has a knife in her hand, good grief these cops are getting trigger happy. If you're a man and shoot a woman because she had what I'm guessing was a small knife and not attacking you something's wrong with your manhood IMO. As a cop I would think you've had training to diffuse a situation like this and shooting the victim should be the last resort, stun gun maybe. I don't know, truly a sad situation.

Though identified in that article as a she, actually not so much...

Call about suspicious man was made by Georgia Tech student killed by police, investigators say

The parents of Schultz said their child, who identified as neither male nor female, had suffered from anxiety and depression, and had spent time in counseling after attempting suicide by hanging two years ago.

I would think college cops should have less than lethal methods of taking down students rather than to kill them.

Student or not, why should a cop have to risk his own life against some deranged person with a deadly weapon that's refusing to comply?

If you're any kind of man besides an old feeble man a small utility knife in a woman's hand is not what I'd consider a deadly weapon. Not when they have batons and tasers available to them. Any male cop with some training should easily be able to use a taser a woman or knock a knife out of a woman's hand with a baton, just doesn't make sense to shoot her dead.

Investigators said a multipurpose tool with a knife was recovered from the parking lot.

But the family attorney said that the blade had been tucked into its holder and that Schultz’s arms remained at the side throughout the police encounter.

“It’s tragic that as Scout was battling mental-health issues that pushed them to the edge of desperation, their life was taken with a bullet rather than saved with nonlethal force,” L. Chris Stewart, the Schultz family attorney, said in a statement.

Stewart added in an interview with The Washington Post: “That’s baffling to me that on a college campus, you’d rather give the officers the most deadly weapons and not equip them with less lethal weapons.”

A spokesman for Georgia Tech told CNN that campus police do not carry stun guns.
